The climate crisis shapes and defines our lives in Ireland – rising costs of living, racism, extreme weather events, ecoanxiety, climate migrants seeking refuge and degradation of the natural world.
As a profession that “engages people and structures to address life challenges and enhance wellbeing” social work needs to learn and adapt to respond to the emerging challenges. Our interdependencies have been brought to the fore. As systemic practitioners we are well positioned to respond.
The aim of this webinar is to build interest, motivation and opportunity among social workers to respond to the climate crisis and its impacts on those we work with and the environments we depend on to live and be well.
It asks for and provides examples of how we can incorporate ecosocial actions into our social work roles.
