Board Committees

Committees of the Board

Our Board Committees bring together experienced social workers who help guide key areas of our work, from professional development and governance to advocacy, research, and international engagement.

Each committee plays an important role in supporting our members. This is done through ensuring social work voices continue to shape policy, practice, and public understanding across Ireland.

Together, these committees help create a stronger, more connected profession grounded in social justice, accountability, and shared expertise.

Elections, Nominations & Motions Committee

The Journal Committee works with practitioners, researchers, academics, and contributors to support the publication of high-quality articles relevant to social work practice and research. The committee oversees editorial direction and peer review processes while helping create meaningful opportunities for shared learning, critical thinking, and professional discussion within the social work community.

International Affairs Committee (IAC)

The International Affairs Committee supports the IASW’s engagement with international social work issues, partnerships, and professional collaboration. This includes the Association’s ongoing relationship with the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), where the IASW has represented Irish social workers for over 40 years.
