This lunchtime webinar will reflect on two case studies through an anti-oppressive practice lens by considering Thompson’s PCS Model (2016) and Burnham’s Social GRACES Framework (1992) and how these intersect to create experiences of oppression and exclusion (Crenshaw, 1989). Social Work ethics and values will be considered within the case studies.
Kate Smith is Medical Social Worker in the Haematology/Oncology inpatient and outpatient wards in Sligo University Hospital. Naoise Waldron is a SMSW on a Community Palliative Care Team, with Our Lady’s Hospice and Care Services.
Both presenters are also students on the PGDip Palliative Care in Queen’s University Belfast, a two year part time course for social workers working in a variety of health and social care services in Republic and Northern Ireland.
